Cherish everyday and make a person feel special

In honor of the person who nourished each and everyone of us, we celebrate mother’s day every second week of May while father’s day is celebrated every third week of June.

When I think about Mother’s day or Father’s day for some reasons I associate it with the other holiday like Valentines day. People give flowers and gifts to the person they love and make them feel special once a year.

I remember my mom she said, from the day I learned how to write there was no occasion that I never gave anything. “You used to give us cards that was just made out from a pad paper with a lot of erasures in it,” she said.

When she showed me now those cards that I made when I was young, I somehow felt awkward and shy thinking back to my head, “did I really made that, I wish I did it better.”

But I think during those times when I first wrote a letter for them made them feel very special.

My parents look up to me and my siblings in our entire life. They were always there for us every time we need them. Maybe sometimes we could also have some kind of misunderstanding but for me I think they were the best parents on earth.

They tried to give us the best of everything.

Recently mother’s day just passed and I had a conversation with my colleagues and friends about mother’s day.

58-year-old Rodrigo Casas was planning to bring his mother and wife to Long Beach and have lunch with them. “Probably I’m just gonna give my mom some money and kiss my wife,” he said.

Another colleague, 29-year-old Julian de Vera’s brother called 1-800-flowers and send their mom flowers because she’s all the way in Florida. De Vera with his wife is also planned to spend the holiday over at Mira Loma with his wife’s family. While 27-year-old Alexander Sahagun planned to bring flowers when he pickup his parents at the airport from vacation on mother’s day eve.

“It’s like a yearly thing that I give flowers to my mom every mother’s day and make her feel special,” Sahagun said.

Although people do all this stuff for the person they love, I still wonder why is it only once a year.

20-year-old co-staffer Robert Lucero mentioned that three years ago a week after mother’s day he asked his mom to dance with him in their living room. “My mom thought it was really sweet,” Lucero said.

Random things like this sometime make a person feel more special rather than be showered with all the attention on the same occasion.

I don’t think it takes an occasion to show how much we appreciate someone that has a special place in our heart.

Life it is constantly changing. We would never know what the future holds us, in any given day we can loose the person we love. Words that left unspoken will only leave us regrets.

Distance also can’t go between you and a person you love. A simple ‘I love you’ in any given day can make anybody who’s important in your life to feel really special.

Sometimes people think it is over-rated to be sweet but we should realize life is too short not cherished and share the love that we have for the people around us.
