Local grade students got a sneak peak of The Wizard of Oz on May 27 at the Citrus College Haugh Performing Arts Center.
The house was packed with several hundred children from schools across San Gabriel Valley. Several nearby schools took advantage of the warm weather and teachers walked the children to campus.
Others were dropped off by bus. Schools displayed their school colors, a perfect way to show pride in the community.
Screaming, laughing and applauding children reacted delightfully throughout the entire show. The story of Dorothy and Toto, the lion, tin man and scare crow was brought to life only feet away from children.
Classis scenes from the play were among favorites. Kaylani Stone, a first grader from La Fetra Elementary in Glendora, raved about Dorothy’s footwear and dog.
“Her shoes were so cute. And Dorothy had a real puppy!” she said.
The two hour play featured vibrant scenes ranging from the wicked witch flying across the room, to hundreds of children in neon colors who acted as munchkins.
