Five students have been elected to the student government executive board.
Elections for the Associated Students of Citrus College Executive Board took place on Dec. 4 and 5. Only 95 students voted.
Members of ASCC plan campus activities, make decisions on behalf of the student body and are responsible for a budget of approximately $500,000 that is generated by student service fees
Three of those running, Andrew "Drew" Cress, Stefano Saltalamacchia and Wendy Orellana, participated in a candidates forum on Nov. 8 in the campus center.
Saltalamacchia, who is currently ASCC commissioner of activities, ran unopposed for Spring 2008 ASCC vice president. He received 72 votes.
Saltalamacchia who spearheaded this year's homecoming event is eager to get students excited about being at Citrus and wants to continue representing the campus and its diversity.
Cress, who is currently a student ambassador, also ran unopposed for the position of student trustee elect. He received 79 votes.
As student trustee elect, Cress will spend the spring semester shadowing current student trustee Linda Bermudez and will then take on the role as student trustee for the 2008-2009 school year.
As student trustee, Cress will serve on the Board of Trustees as a non-voting member.
"I hope to bring a wealth of ideas and to accurately bring the ideas of ASCC to the Board of Trustees so that the will of the students is taken into account," he said.
Cress feels strongly about the Community College Initiative or Prop. 92 and hopes to get more students informed.
James Eiselstein was elected senator with 39 votes, as was Orellana with 68 votes and Michelle Yan with 57 votes.
Orellana, who is currently president of the Citrus College Business Association, has goals as senator to make a difference, grow as a leader and get more people involved.
"My main priority is to make sure that everyone knows that they can be involved on campus," she said.
There are still four senator positions available as well as appointed commissioner positions.
Applications are available in the student affairs office. For more information, call (626) 914-8601.
